Progressive farmers will be honoured at the state and district level
Chandigarh, 29 December: Haryana Government has launched Mukhyamantri Pragatishil Kisan Samman Yojana to motivate, identify and honour progressive farmers and to encourage other farmers to adopt the best farming practises across the state.
An official spokesperson said that along with getting top quality produce, farmers who are adopting latest practices including water saving, crop residue management, organic farming, integrated farming systems and sustainable agriculture would get benefit under this scheme. Online applications have been invited for progressive farmers till January 15, 2022. Interested progressive farmers can get themselves registered on the website www.agriharyana.gov.in
The spokesperson said that the farmer getting first prize at the state level would be awarded a cash amount of Rs 5 lakh. Similarly, two second prizes of Rs 3 lakh each and five third prizes of Rs.1 lakh each will be given to each progressive farmer.
He said that the Department will also felicitate the farmers at the district level. Rs 50,000 will be given to 88 farmers as consolation prize at district level. This award will be given to four farmers from each district in the district level category. For the selection of awards, a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Director General, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department at the state level and Deputy Commissioner at the district level.
The spokesperson said that the government has decided to identify and honour progressive farmers who have adopted best farming practices in agriculture and allied sectors contributing towards doubling the income of farmers. Under this scheme, the selected farmers will get cash prizes for their excellent work in agriculture and related fields.
