Dhankar handed over the sacrifice soil of Hussainiwala to Pune unit of BJP and also took the soil from Khed village, for putting tilak on Wednesday (March 23)
CHANDIGARH, March 22
The Shaheed NamanYatra, which had started from Haryana’s Ambala under the leadership of State President of BJP Om Prakash Dhankar, reached the native village of great freedom fighter ShivaramRajguru at Khed village near Pune in Maharastra.
ShivaramRajguru was born on 24 August 1908 and his mother Parvatidevi and father HarinarainRajguru belonged to a Brahmin family.
OP Dhankar was welcomed by BJP workers at Pune airport, where slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘VandeMataram’ were recited to remember the martyrdom of heroes like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Udham Singh.
Earlier on March 19, Dhankhar had visited National Martyrs Memorial, Hussainiwala, Punjab, to pay his tribute to the martyrs. From there, he took the ‘BalidanMitti’ (sacrifice soil) which will be used to put tilak on forehead of thousands of young people on March 23.
However on Monday, Dhankhar handed over part of that soil to Pune unit of BJP for the tilak and also took the soil from Khed village, which he will take with him at Haryana.
The BJP is holding various events to commemorate Shaheed Divas, which is marked every year on March 23, the day when three freedom fighters – Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev – were hanged to death by the British in the Lahore Jail.
On the same day, all the people will be tilaked with sacrificial soil and tribute will be paid to these heroes. Earlier, BJP state president Rahul Rana said that all the 4 lakh workers who have been given membership this month will also take part in the event.
While addressing the people, Dhankhar said, “The people of India need to remember the contribution of revolutionaries in the freedom struggle. Rajguru was just 22 years old when he got martyred for the county while Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev were 23. At this young age, they were true lovers of the country. If we will take inspiration from our martyrs then we will always be able to keep our country safe.”
“This yatra will not only educate the youth about the sacrifices of three great fighters but will also create passion for patriotism among youths. BJP is remembering every martyr in the festival of independence and bringing their heroic sagas into the public light, whose names the country does not know today”, he added.
