Panchayat Minister lauds role of Panchayats in fight against Corona
Chandigarh, April 23: The Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today congratulated all the Panchayats, Block Samitis and Zila Parishads of the state on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day and lauded the role of all the Panchayati Raj Institutions of the state who are fighting the battle against the Corona at frontline.
Mr. Bajwa said that Panchayati Raj Institutions have made a significant contribution in the overall development of the villages and always stood in front of not only the rural but also the urban people for the rescue and relief during and any natural calamity.
Even during the current Corona pandemic, the Panchayats have played a vigilant role to stop spreading of Corona virus in the villages. He said that that the Panchayats have provided food, medicines and fodder in the villages especially rations to the poor the families of the daily labourers, no person or animal was left hungry. Besides this the Rural Development and Panchayats departments have prepared 4 lac masks and 3.5 thousand aprons through the self help groups which have been provided to the administration
Mr. Bajwa said that Panchayats are also playing an important role in awaring farmers, labour and commission agents to save them from corona virus. The Panchayati Raj Institutions have also launched a campaign to aware people by pasting posters in villages and grain markets and messages are also being floated through social media..
The minister also said that the Punjab Governemnt under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has strengthened Panchayati Raj institutions by giving 50 percent reservation to the women.
On this day the Panchayat Minister Mr. Bajwa has appealed to the all members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions of the sate to take pledge to work honestly with dedication for the development and welfare of the people.
