Proposal rolled out to develop a fully equipped model bus terminal at Ballabhgarh
Chandigarh, February 11 – A proposal has been rolled out to develop a fully equipped model bus terminal at Ballabhgarh in Haryana. The bus terminal which is to be constructed over 21 acres of land will have all the facilities including retail, commercial and hospitality services. Construction work of the bus terminal will be carried out by Haryana Police Housing Corporation which will be completed in two years.
Haryana Transport Minister, Mool Chand Sharma has given in-principle approval for this project in a meeting with officials of the Department and Corporation today. A detailed project report will be prepared soon by the Police Housing Corporation.
Mool Chand Sharma said that besides a bus stoppage, this bus terminal being built at the prime location of the city will also generate a source of revenue for the Department. He said that a shopping mall will also be constructed in this terminal for meeting all the needs of public including banquet hall, food court and a garment showroom. Besides this, there will be provision of separate routes for buses and commercial purposes.
He directed the officials to ensure that the bus terminal level is at par with the level of GT road during the construction. He said that arrangements for water drainage should also be made. Besides this, proper arrangement of parking should also be made so that there is no problem in parking of vehicles in the coming time. He directed the officials to expedite the measurement process of land allotted for the bus terminal and to construct the boundary walls.
Transport Minister said that 800 buses will be soon added to the fleet of the Department. 400 of these buses will arrive by March while the remaining 400 buses will also be purchased soon. He also directed the officials to make adequate arrangements of buses for the devotees planning to visit Kumbh Mela.
Among those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary, Transport Department, Shatrujeet Kapoor, Director General Transport Department, Virender Kumar Dahiya, Managing Director of Haryana Police Housing Corporation, R.C. Mishra and other senior officers.
