AAP for time-barred judicial probe into the Gypsum Scam
…Chief Minister should step down as a ‘flop’ Agriculture Minister immediately

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has demanded a time-bound judicial probe into the multi-crore gypsum scam under the supervision of the sitting Punjab and High Court judge.
In a joint statement issued from party headquarters on Monday, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema and state Kisan Wing President and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that the anti-agriculture and anti-farmer policies of the successive governments at the Center and state had been hell bent on destroying the agriculturists, already knee-deep into financial straits, by their anti-famers stance and indulging into multi-crore scams, one after the other, out to hit hard the rundown economy of the state.
LoP Harpal Singh Cheema on the occasion said that during the 10-year ‘misrule’ of the previous Badal government indulging in the multi-crore seed subsidy and white fly (fake pesticide) scams, respectively, during the tenure of then Agriculture Minister, Sucha Singh Langah and Tota Singh, the Captain government, instead of bring those behind the scams, got involved deep down into the scams.
Cheema said that earlier the multi-crore fake seed scam and now the Gypsum scam had proved beyond doubt that Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had proved himself to be a ‘flop’ Agriculture Minister (He also holds the charge) of the country so far, saying that he should step down immediately and make way for a comparatively competent minister to take care of the important Agriculture portfolio.
Kultar Singh Sandhwa said that gypsum (mineral) worth crores of rupees had been procured from Rajasthan with the paddy season coming to an end, demanding that a time-bound judicial probe be ensured under the supervision of Punjab and Haryana High Court, for 60 per cent of its samples failing the reality check and the prices fixed for the same.
Sandhwan said the Punjab government was cheating on the farmers by providing spurious gypsum to them at price of Rs. 440 as against the actual price of Rs. 225, thus indulging in an open ‘loot’ on the farmers, alleging that even the subsidies received by the farmers on agricultural appliances, too were being subverted thus cheating on the farmers in collusion with the government.
