Rs 10.08 Crores funds released for payment of margin money to depot holders: Ashu

Chandigarh, October 17: The Department of Food & Supplies has released Rs 10.08 Crores to be paid as margin money to Depot Holders for facilitating distribution of wheat and cereals to beneficiaries of Antodya Food Scheme and Priority Household Scheme under Target Public Distribution System, during the Covid lockdown. The funds have been transferred into accounts of all the Food and Civil Supplies Controller/ District Manager Pungrain in the state, which will soon be credited to the accounts of the depot holders. This was disclosed by Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu.

Lauding depot holders for their dedication and sense of service during Covid outbreak in distributing food grains under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana during Covid outbreak, Ashu said it was only with their cooperation that the Punjab Government could distribute 201639.147 MT of wheat to the beneficiaries of Anantodya Food Scheme and Priority Household Scheme in a smooth manner.

Mr. Ashu said that depot holders were being given margin money at the rate of Rs. 50 per quintal. The Minister also directed all the Food and Civil Supplies Controllers/District Managers PUNGRAIN of the state to ensure that the margin money is credited to the accounts of the depot holders without any delay.
