(Says Cong doubly guilty of facilitating thermal plants during UPA – 2 and then unleashing its Punjab unit on them to force them to cough up the “donation” )
Chandigrh, July 13 2021 The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh not to try to brazenly lie his way out after being caught accepting funds from private thermal plants whom the Congress party had first facilitated and then threatened before they coughed up “donations” .
The SAD said the Congress party not only made a policy under UPA – 2 government of Dr Manmohan Singh which facilitated the establishment of the thermal plants but also unleashed its Punjab unit against them by threatening to scrap the agreements if the Congress government assumed power in Punjab in 2012.
Asking the chief minister not to resort to bald lies which did not hold any water, SAD Spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said “you are directly complicit in this sordid affair which smacks of blackmail. You as well as PCC President Sunil Jakhar publically threatened the private thermal power companies that you would scrap the PPAs they had signed with the then SAD government. What you must tell Punjabis is why your party simultaneously opened communication with the private companies and facilitated a “donation” from them. Isn’t this illegal? “, the SAD leader asked adding only a probe by the CBI or a national agency could unmask the entire scandal and bring out the real facts before the people.
Dr Cheema also asked the chief minister to explain how he had made a differentiation between the Punjab Congress and the AICC . “How can the Punjab Congress unit be a separate entity from the AICC. It is surely subservient to it. Even you were recently summoned to Delhi and received a dressing down besides being told to pull up your socks and implement the promises made to Punjabis. Now you are trying to befool Punjabis by admitting that money was taken but by the high command and not you even though you are part and parcel of the Congress party”.
