— (SAD- BSP alliance will contest parliament and corporation elections together)
Chandigarh, October 19 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) combine will submit a censure notice against Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sandeep Pathak in the State assembly tomorrow.
A decision to this effect was taken in a joint SAD – BSP meeting here which was attended by the senior leadership of both parties.
The meeting said the Sandeep Pathak deserved to be censured for taking an anti- Punjab stance on the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. It noted that Pathak had gone against the collective will of the assembly which had under the leadership of S Parkash Singh Badal de notified the land on which the SYL canal stood and transferred its ownership back to farmers. “There is no question of asserting that Haryana should be supplied water from the SYL canal as was done by Pathak as the canal ceases to exist as an entity”. It said the alliance would also urge all parties to unite as one to defeat the conspiracy to rob Punjab of its river waters.
In another important decision, the joint meeting decided that the SAD and BSP would contest the forthcoming parliament as well as corporations elections together. It said coordination committee for the same would be made soon.
The leaders who participated in the meeting including Balwinder Singh Bhundur, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, Sikandar Singh Maluka, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi from the SAD and Jasbir Singh Garhi, Nachhatar Pal and Ajit Singh Bhaini from the BSP.
