In connection with celebration of the forthcoming 75th Republic Day 2024, a meeting was held under the Area Development Officer/SDM Zanskar (Romil Singh Donk, IAS), here on Wednesday at Tourist Dak Banglow Padum.
All the Department Officers were present in the meeting. At the outset, the SDM took a department-wise review about arrangements to be put in place by respective departments.
The SDM directed the officers of the concerned departments to ensure all preparations including seating arrangements, march past parade, cultural programs, transport and parking facilities, power and water supply, deployment of sanitation staff, medical/first aid, and installation of PA system on Republic Day.
After threadbare discussion, it was decided that the celebration of 75th Republic Day shall be held at Sports Stadium Padum.
The National Flag shall be hoisted by the chief guest. Ladakh Police, NCC, Ex-Serviceman, Govt. and Private institutes shall participate in the march past and cultural programs. The full dress rehearsal will be held on 24 January 2024. The SDM also stressed to involve all major stakeholders and involve all the sections of society.
The SDM asked the Education Department to ensure all necessary arrangements for boarding/lodging of participating school children and artists are taken care of well in advance with concerned, while transport arrangements will be made.
On the occasion, matters related to security, media management and entry of VIPs and other participants were also discussed. Various committees were also constituted to celebrate the function with nationalist vigour and make it successful.
