The Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, UT Ladakh, Saugat Biswas reviewed the progress and status of the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in the Union Territory.

The Officer on Special Duty to the Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Zakir Hussain gave a detailed presentation highlighting the status of various parameters under MGNREGA.
Secretary Biswas, while reviewing the progress on various parameters of MGNREGA such as generation of man-days, verification of job cards, timely payment to the workers, processing of fund transfer order, regeneration of rejected transaction, Aadhar seeding status, total coverage under MGNREGA, etc. directed the Block Development Officers, Assistant Commissioners Development and the Director Rural Development to improve the progress on these parameters within 15 days. He also directed the Block Development Officers to process the fund transfer orders for timely payment to the workers within the mandatory timeline of eight days failing which, delay compensation as mandated under MGNREGA shall be recovered from the concerned Block Development Officers.
Further, Secretary Biswas stressed upon the officers of the concerned departments to improve the progress on uploading of Geographical information system based planning, Geo-tagging of the works, and registration of devices for national mobile monitoring system.
The meeting was attended by Director, Rural Development, Assistant Commissioners Development, Block Development Officers, and Social Audit Coordinators.
