In first of its kind case, the SDM Barnala Mr Varjeet Walia ordered arrest of a man for failing to give maintenance amount to his elderly mother under senior citizen maintenance act.

Giving information here today, Mr Varjeet Walia stated that a resident of village Kthe Akalgarh had promised to give his mother Rs 5000 per month maintenance amount. However, he had failed to pay the amount which had accumulated to Rs 95000.
Following this, the court of Tribunal SDM Barnala Mr Varjeet Walia has written to the Station House Officer (SHO) Dhanaula for arresting the accused.
