District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee Meet held by MPs Mrs Preneet Kaur, Manish Tewari and Vikramjit Singh Sahney
DC Assures the MPs for a weekly status update on all the projects besides expediting them

Members of Parliament, Mrs Preneet Kaur, Sh. Manish Tewari and Vikramjit Singh Sahney today asked the district officials Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar to speed up the works allocated under Member of Parliament Local Area Development funds.
Chairing a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, the trio of MPs reviewed the progress of various grants released by them to the district for different development works. While taking stock of the current status of the works, the MPs urged the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain to depute a Nodal Officer for the regular follow-up of the works and keep them sending a weekly report about the progress made in the previous week.
MP Manish Tewari while inquiring about the progress of Bhajouli and Bathlana Village works said that the grants should be utilised in a time-bound manner so that the next instalment could be released to complete the work. He also asked about the status of the Sewerage Treatment Plants of Kharar and Kurali. He stressed the need for proper planning to provide basic amenities in the wake of increasing urbanisation from Zirakpur to Kurali. He has also been informed of the two sewer projects to be laid in Zirakpur at Sanoli and Bankarpur.
MP Mrs Preneet Kaur while asking about the status of grants given for Tiwana, Amlala, Khedi Gujjran and Bijanpur said that the works should be started and completed in time to facilitate the residents of these villages. She insisted upon the uninterrupted power and water supply on rainy days to the residents residing in the High Rise Towers. She said that the builders and developers should be directed to equip their housing projects with proper disposal of water and arrangements of power supply as it was seen as problematic in previous floods.
Member of Rajya Sabha, Sh. Vikramjit Singh Sahney while reviewing the projects initiated in Mohali, said that the most important project of the upgradation of Manakpur Sharif needs proper attention as the ITI has to be transformed into a Center of Excellence for imparting skill training to youth. Listing his priority to enhance the skills of youth and create jobs for them, he said that these 1.28 crore projects should be completed as early as possible. Out of this grant Rs 1 Crore is for machinery only, said the MP.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain while giving assurance on behalf of the district Administration, said that she will be monitoring all the projects herself every week and wherever the work is lagging, it will be expedited immediately. She requested the MPs to provide super suction machines to cope with flood-like situations in future. The MPs asked for a proposal to release the grant. Chairperson of the District Planning Committee Prabhjot Kaur was also present there.
The MPs discussed the progress of the National Health Mission, National Rural Drinking Water Programme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, National Social Assistance Programme, Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission- Gramin, National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HMRUT), Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Smart City Mission and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Housing for All – Urban) by Urban Local Bodies, Deen Dayal Upadhyay – Gramin Kaushalya Yogjna (DDU-GKY) and Pradhan Mantari Kaushal Vikas Yojna, Pradhan Mantri UJJWALA Yojana (PMUY) – LPG Connection to BPL, Nation Food Security Mission & Agriculture Mechanization 2022, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY) – Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojna (PMAY-G), Deen Dyal Antordaya Yojna – NRLM by BPM, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Mid-Day Meal Scheme,Integrated Child Development Scheme, Jal Shakti Yojna and Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana.
