In the wake of new hit-and-run law, there is nationwide strike by truckers and the fuel crisis looms and there are huge queues outside petrol pumps. There is great panic among the people to get their vehicles filled with Petrol & Diesel. But on the other hand owners of E vehicles are enjoying their ride.
Project Incharge& Joint Commissioner Hardeep Singh said that E-autos running under RAAHI Project are best alternate for the citizens as well as tourists to go to & fro and this transport strike has no impact on movement of E-autos. Diesel & Petrol autos have come to a standstill as there are huge queues outside petrol pumps to get the vehicles filled. As per sources, the strike may remain for 3-4 days.
He said there is best opportunity for all diesel/petrol auto drivers to go for E-autos of their own choice as there are four E-auto companies empaneled with Amritsar Smart City Limited namelyPiaggio, Atul, Mahindra & Bajaj. At present around 700 E-autos are running successfully & serving the citizens of the Holy city and the drivers who have attained these E-autos have got cash subsidy of Rs.1.40 lacs each with other benefits of Government running social schemes. E-auto is the future vehicle which is totally government authorized, with all official documents & most important it has GPS tracking system with authorized number plate. Joint Commissioner appealed to all auto drivers to go for booking of E-autos of their own choice out of these four auto companies as huge bookings are pouring in all auto companies which is a major boost to the RAAHI Project. Diesel auto drivers are curious to get the benefit of cash subsidy of Rs.1.40 lacs as there is no such subsidy on any vehicle
