UT Ladakh celebrate 7th Int’l Yoga Day with full fervour

Ladakh, June 21 2021  The 7th International Day of Yoga was observed with full fervour in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The day was observed with active participation from all dignitaries, including politicians, bureaucrats, officials, students, organisations and people, despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The theme for this year was Yoga for Wellness. The central government and the local administration had urged people to practice and observe International Day of Yoga at home with their family members.
Stressing the importance of practising yoga in everyday life, CEC Adv Tashi Gyalson appealed to people to adopt yoga as a part of life for better health.UT Ladakh celebrate 7th Int'l Yoga Day with full fervour
CEC Tashi Gyalson, Executive Councillor (Animal/Sheep Husbandry), LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, and Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Shrikant Suse, performed yoga asanas at Nyoma village, situated at more than 14,000 ft above sea level, during their official tour to the Changthang area.
Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, highlighted the importance of yoga in Indian culture. He also performed various yoga asanas and urged people to make yoga a part of their daily lives.
Deputy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk, and EC Agriculture Stanzin Chosphel also performed yoga asanas during the event.
Advisor to LG, Umang Narula performed yoga in Kargil during his official tour of the district.
All the Administrative Secretaries of UT Ladakh, including Principal Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal; Secretary GAD, Ajeet Kumar Sahu; Principal Chief Conservator/Secretary, Law, Preet Pal Singh; Divisional Commissioner, Saugat Biswas; Secretary, Information and Social/Tribal Welfare, Padma Angmo; Secretary, Tourism and Employment, Mehboob Ali Khan, and Secretary, Sports/PDD, Ravinder Kumar, also performed yoga during the event.
Volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan gave a demonstration of various yoga asanas to the secretaries.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation, stated that yoga gives a happier way of life and hoped that yoga would continue playing its preventive and promotive role in the healthcare of the masses
