On the occasion of ‘World Press Freedom Day’, Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), SAS Nagar, organized a panel discussion session to bring the medical faculty at the institution on the same platform with senior journalists, Mr. Pradeep Singh from Jagbani – Punjab Kesari and Mr. Jagdeep Singh, with Indian Express on Monday, 2nd May, 2022. The event was organized to mark the Press Freedom Day and aimed to increase an understanding between two important professional sections of society. Recognizing free press as an important pillar of the society, Director Principal, Dr. Bhavneet Bharti announced that the institution will formalize a press committee to engage and interact with the press and increase
transparency and fair reporting of events.

Topics like Journalism under digital siege’, the theme for this year’s day, state of press freedom across the world, and the role of the press in creating health awareness among masses were discussed during the meeting.
