Medical officers to not leave their station under any circumstances

Government hospitals must provide quality based 24-hour emergency services to patients for which it is imperative that medical officers do not leave their stations under any circumstances. These views were expressed by MLA Mr. Dinesh Chadha during a meeting with the medical officers of the government hospital.

He asked the staff of the hospital in the meeting to share shortcomings of health services and he assured that all key issues in the health services would be rectified soon by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that at present there was a need for comprehensive reforms in the health system and concrete steps would be taken to rectify this in phases.
MLA Dinesh Chadha asked the doctors to be present on time for their duties so that the needy patients could have more confidence in the government health system. He told the doctors and staff present in the meeting that if there is any problem regarding the provision of health services, they can contact him at any time and share their problem.
Mr Chadha said that patients should be benefited by making maximum use of the available resources in the hospital at present. He said that two days back he had taken action on the worst condition of ambulances after which the Managing Director of Punjab Health System Corporation has worked out a blueprint to improve the services of ambulances. He said that in the same way every service available in the government hospital would be improved and provided to the general public with the full contribution of medical and para medical staff including doctors.
“Our main goal is to improve the emergency services so that the precious lives of critically ill patients can be saved in government hospitals,” he said.
Mr. Dinesh Chadha further said in the meeting that every penny issue by the government should be utilized in a prudent manner. He also instructed SMO Rupnagar to take necessary steps for the availability of ultrasound facilities. At the same time he instructed the officers to deal politely with the people and patients visiting in the hospital. Special care should be taken for cleanliness and avoid unnecessary referrals.
He said that if any doctor or official is facing any problem or has any suggestion to improve the health services then he can be contacted directly.
On this occasion Civil Surgeon Dr. Parminder Kumar, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Anju, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Gayatri, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Baldev Singh, SMO Dr. Tarsem Singh, District Health Officer Dr Harinder Singh, D.D.H.O. Dr RP Singh, all the doctors and staff of the Civil Hospital were present.
