The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia held discussions with industrialists and traders of Batala and Gurdaspur as part of the ‘Samwad program’, so that in the election manifesto being prepared by the Aam Aadmi Party before the 2022 assembly elections, the party can clarify its policy and program for concrete solutions to the problems being faced by the traders-businessmen.

Addressing the program organised in Batala, Manish Sisodia said that the solution of all the problems of the industry depends only on the political will, which is with the AAP. Citing the example of traders, Sisodia said that before the formation of the AAP government, there were 7-7 hours of power cuts in Delhi, but due to political will the party achieved the target of 24-hours power supply and now for nearly three- and-a-half-years, Delhi gets 24 -hour electricity. He appealed to the people to elect the AAP government. The graph of average income of the country was increasing which was affecting the consumers. The question was raised that if the average income of the country has increased then where is the money going? This obviously means lack of political will, he said.

Manish Sisodia said that the government should maintain cordial relations with the business community as the state and the country would be happy when business grows. Giving an example, he said that the traders and retailers in Delhi were afraid of raids, FIRs and challans and secondly; the tax was also 18 percent higher. But due to the AAP’s political will, the tax has been reduced from 12 percent to 5 percent and, surprisingly, the government has received 1 percent more tax than last year.

Similarly, after a meeting before the budget was prepared in 2016, the tax on 44 products was reduced from 12 percent to 5 percent. With this, while Delhi’s budget was around Rs 30,000 crore in 2011-12, the AAP’s budget has increased to Rs 60,000 crore in five years. Sisodia said information was received about inspectors reportedly recovering Diwali in Delhi, which was strictly prohibited by the government. The information was received from the trade union and later the CBI was informed and the inspectors were sent to jail. At the same time, the enforcement wing was immediately dissolved. He said the government should trust the traders. On the other hand, if the GST department helps the business world, the tax will definitely go up.

Sisodia further said that despite the Covid pandemic, Delhi’s GDP has grown by 13 percent. The average income of the country is 1.35 lakh rupees, while the average income of Delhi is Rs 3.54 lakh. The AAP leader said that he has started a Skill University in Delhi with the political will to address the needs of the entrepreneurs; so that the students can get employment as soon as they complete their studies.

The Delhi Government is providing Rs 60 crore for start-up, entrepreneurial skills to students of Class IX to XII. About 3.5 lakh students have developed 51,000 business ideas. Even some children are earning lakhs of rupees from the seed money of the government, said Sisodia. He said the Delhi government had introduced an MBA in family business so that the children of factory owners/operators could run their own business. Including training here, the children of factory owners and operators will learn 70 percent work in their factory and 30 percent training in university.

Manish Sisodia said when India turns 100 years old, Delhi’s average income will be equal to Singapore’s average income; the AAP’s roadmap is ready. He said that in order to create a conducive environment for the business community of Punjab, it was imperative that the issues raised should be resolved through political will. Sisodia has appealed to the people of Punjab to give a chance to the AAP, after which they will forget all other parties.
