Police Commissionerate Ludhiana accords Guard of Honour to the Cabinet Minister

Excise and Taxation Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, chaired pre-excise policy consultations with the licensees in connection with the forthcoming Excise Policy, 2022-23. The meeting was co-chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary (Taxation) to the Government of Punjab, KAP Sinha, IAS and Excise Commissioner, Punjab, Varun Roojam, IAS.

The meeting was also attended by other senior officers of the Excise Commissionerate.
Excise and Taxation Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema said that Punjab Government intends to form a fair and transparent excise policy for the State. The main focus will not be only on increase in the revenue but also to keep buoyancy in the liquor trade. The Minister said that the Policy will be made after considering the suggestions given by all the stakeholders for the smooth functioning of the state.
The Minister said that there will be zero tolerance for corruption and unscrupulous activities, adding that liquor, which is being smuggled from neighbouring states will be dealt with strictly.
The minister invited suggestions from the licensees regarding the upcoming excise policy to be formulated shortly and feedback regarding the ongoing Policy. The licensees gave their suggestions and proposals for the policy.
The Minister assured that the suggestions and proposals given by them will be considered on merits at the time of policy formulation.
A contingent of Police Commissionerate Ludhiana also accorded guard of honour to the Cabinet Minister at Circuit House here today. Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, Commissioner of Police Kaustubh Sharma and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
