The Career Development and Guidance Centre of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) Chandigarh, today successfully organized its very first TEDX event marking a significant milestone in PEC’s legacy. These highly engaging and insightful TEDXPEC talks aimed at inspiring and motivating students to excel in their careers and personal growth. The event was graced by distinguished personalities from diverse fields providing the students with valuable insights about life, entrepreneurial skills and overcoming challenges.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Samar Singla (Founder of Click Labs, Co-founder of Jugnoo and JungleWorks), Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia (Director, PEC), Prof. J.D. Sharma (Head, CDGC), and various faculty members of the institute. Initially, Prof. JD Sharma, welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the speakers. He emphasized on the importance of such events in shaping the future of the students and encouraging them to make the most out of the opportunity.
The first session of the day was delivered by Mr. Samar Singla (Founder of Click Labs, Co-founder of Jugnoo and JungleWorks), who shared his academic and professional journey with students, highlighting the discipline and perseverance needed to succeed in the entrepreneurial world. He took over his family business and established a new factory with research and motivation. His determination and vision led to the creation of Jugnoo and JungleWorks. He remarked, that “Simple, yet not so easy, it needs discipline”, while focusing on the idea of 100% or nothing.
Second session was led by Ms. Janvi Sikaria, Entrepreneur and co-founder of Burger Bae. She shared her journey of overcoming depression & anxiety and establishing the brand along the way. She emphasized the significance of resilience and the need to persist in the face of adversity to build a successful career. Her journey highlighted how a strong mindset and determination can lead to success.
The third speaker of the day was very renowned sports shooter Ms. Anjum Modgil, a two-time Olympian, Arjuna Awardee and silver medalist at the Commonwealth Games, and ISSF World Championship. She captivated the audience with her athletic journey, discussing the endless possibilities. She encouraged students to define their worth not by fitting into societal stereotypes but by believing in themselves and thinking beyond the conventional.
Next, Mr. Deepak Gupta. an alumnus of PEC and co-founder of the Bombay Shipping Company. Mr. Gupta gave insights on dealing with the positive pressure that comes throughout the professional journey. He highlighted the initial challenges in establishing the brand and how pushing through discomfort can ultimately lead to success. He emphasized on the analogy of holding your ground, just like Sunita Williams in the face of adversity, was a powerful takeaway.
The final speaker was Mr. Mohit Bansal, the founder of GMI Infrastructure and Whispering Homes. He delivered an inspiring session on following one’s dream and navigating through challenges. Each session was followed by an interactive Q&A session. The event was a resounding success. It provided an excellent platform to learn from the experience of accomplished individuals who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. The students left with a renewed sense of purpose and motivation to excel in their careers and personal lives.
