Free OPD and IPD Scheme is An Innovative Initiative of The State Government

Medical Professionals Should Gear up to Make  The Scheme Successful: Chief Minister 

 

Jaipur, April 17.Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot has directed to make Mukhyamantri Nishulk Nirogi Rajasthan Yojana (Chief Minister Free Healthy Rajasthan Scheme) successful at ground level. The scheme was started from April 1 with an objective to make people of the State free from the tension of expenses incurred due to costly treatment. He said, “Our Government has started this innovative scheme to provide free treatment and testing services in OPD and IPD to the people of the State.” He said that officers of the health department, doctors and nursing community should get ready to make this scheme successful with the spirit of service and ensure that the patients do not face any kind of problems in getting free treatment.

Shri Gehlot was addressing the review meeting of the health department at his official residence on Sunday. He said that health is the top priority of the State Government. This is the reason the Government started ambitious schemes such as Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana and Mukhyamantri Nishulk Nirogi Rajasthan Yojana. “It is our attempt that through these schemes, the people of the State remain free from the tension of expenses of costly treatment. We want Rajasthan to become a leading State in the country in health care services,” he added. The State Government would ensure that these schemes are executed with full commitment up to the ground level. Shri Gehlot said that regular monitoring would be done at his level, at the level of the Health Minister and at the administrative level for the success of the scheme.

The Chief Minister said that this scheme was started as a trial run from 1st April. It is quite obvious that the number of patients will increase in the hospitals and medical colleges. Looking at this, the health department officers should ensure that there is adequate availability of free medicines and testing facilities in the hospitals. The number of resources should also be increased as per the requirement, he said.

The Chief Minister said that the Government is moving fast in the direction of the ‘Right to Health’. He also directed to give final shape to the Right to Health bill at the earliest. In this bill, all necessary provisions should be included in the interest of patients, he added.

Shri Gehlot said that in present budget, the insurance coverage per family has been increased to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 5 lakh in Chiranjeevi Swasthya Beema Yojana. Besides this, now cochlear implants, bone marrow transplants, organ transplants, blood, platelets and plasma transfusion and limb prosthesis (bone cancer) will also be available free of cost under this scheme. He said that now treatment and testing services have been made totally free in OPD and IPD in all the government medical institutions under Mukhyamantri Free Healthy Rajasthan Scheme. He expressed satisfaction on the positive feedback given by the beneficiaries on the health schemes of the State Government at Maharana Bhupal Hospital during his recent visit to Udaipur.

Health Minister Shri Parsadi Lal Meena said that decisions are being taken continuously to strengthen the health care services in medical institutions. Help Desks are being set up for the convenience of the beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana and to help them in free treatment in private hospitals that are linked with this scheme. Similarly, the department is working in a planned manner for the better utilisation of the resources and to strengthen the testing facilities.

Chief Secretary Smt Usha Sharma said that the Sawai Man Singh Hospital is a model hospital for other hospitals in the State. Concerted efforts are being made to further improve the health services and make them convenient. Principal Secretary Health Shri Vaibhav Galriya informed about the decisions taken for smooth functioning of the schemes including free OPD and IPD scheme in SMS hospital and other medical institutions in the State.

Principal Secretary Finance Shri Akhil Arora, Mission Director NHM Dr Jitendra Kumar Soni, Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation MD Smt Anupama Jorwal, Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency Additional CEO Shri Amit Yadav, Director Public Health Dr VK Mathur, SMS Medical College Principal Dr Sudhir Bhandari and other senior officers of the health department were present in the meeting.
