Administration offers free skill training to 2700 youth in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, June 23- With a view to enabling maximum youngsters skilled and professional in different trades/sectors, the district administration was providing training to over 2700 youth under various skill development courses across district.
The ongoing training was being imparted as per requirement of industrial as well as other sectors so that these youngsters can get suitable jobs in their respective fields.
Giving further details, the Deputy Commissioner said that under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana sponsored by the Ministry of Rural Development, the training was provided at ten centres to 1500 youths to make them skilled and empowered. Similarly under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) run by Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, he said that a total of five training partners were running the centers and offering training to 1200 youth in the district. He said that the centres were helping to enhance the technical abilities of the youth hence making them able to get maximum employment opportunities and becoming self-reliant also.
The Deputy Commissioner said that special focus was being laid on empowering the youth by imparting quality training through such courses. He said that various skill courses were being imparted to the youth include Health Care, Cooking, Fashion Designing, Mill Operator, Nursing, CNC. Courses include Operator, Food Processing, Customer Care Manager, Multi Cuisine Cook etc.
Thori further said that under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, any village youth belonging to a poor family of 15-35 years of age could get skill training and similarly the youth of urban area in the age group of 18-35 from poor families with an annual income of less than Rs. 3 lakh were eligible for training. He said that apart from providing free uniforms, books and training materials to the youth under these two schemes, transportation and placement facilities were being offered to them.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to make the general public aware about these schemes so that more and more youth could avail benefit of free skill training.
