Flagship stores to be opened in all districts by HAFED in a phased manner- Dr. Banwari Lal
Efforts to take HAFED’s products to consumers through online shopping platform started- Cooperation Minister

Haryana Cooperation Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal said that a plant would be set up by Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) at Taraori in Karnal district for the production of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK). Similarly, HAFED will open flagship stores in all the districts of the state in a phased manner. Apart from this, HAFED is also contemplating to set up its own platform along with selling its products on online marketing/shopping platform so that the products of HAFED can reach maximum number of consumers through various modes.

He gave this information while presiding over a review meeting of the officers of HAFED in Panchkula today and also gave various guidelines to the concerned officers during this review meeting. In the review meeting, Chairman, HAFED, Sh. Kailash Bhagat and Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperation Department, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal were also present.
FRK plants will be set up
It was informed in the meeting that a plant would be set up by HAFED at Taraori in Karnal district for the production of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK). The fortified rice kernels produced through this plant will be supplied through ICDS, MDM and PDS. Approval will be taken from the government for setting up this plant so that further work can be done on it. In the meeting, discussions were held regarding the installation of more such plants at other identified places in the state, which include Taraori and Ratia etc. FRK is a form of nutritious food containing vitamins, folic acid and iron etc.
Turmeric Plant Process Begins
During the meeting, the Cooperation Minister was informed that with a view to promote turmeric growing farmers, process has been started by HAFED for setting up of Turmeric Powder Plant, Turmeric Oil Extraction Plant and Cold Storage at Radaur, Yamunanagar. Apart from this, the plant will also have facilities for processing other spices like chilli, coriander etc. Similarly, there will also be a cold room arrangement for turmeric oil.
Flour mill will be established in Jatusana, Rewari
It was informed in the meeting that flour mill is being set up by HAFED in the premises of Barley Malt Plant of HAFED at Jatusana in district Rewari and this plant will be equipped with modern technology which includes imported machinery line as well as 5000 MT silos, and conveyors etc. the building and other civil works of this plant will be completed by April 2022. Similarly, it was informed in the meeting that a corporate office is being set up by HAFED in Delhi, whose work will be completed by next November.
Oil mill to be set up in Rampura, Rewari
It was informed in the meeting that a new oil mill would be set up at Rampura in district Rewari and work would be done to upgrade the existing oil mills of Rewari and Narnaul. It was informed in the meeting that the foundation stone of a new oil mill would be laid in coming December so that farmers cultivating mustard could get maximum benefits.
Civil, plant and machinery work in Mega Food Park will be completed by January 2022
In the meeting, the Cooperation Minister was informed that a Mega Food Park is being set up at IMT, Rohtak. Under this there will be Core Processing Center and Primary Processing Center. Under which the core processing center will be in Rohtak, while the primary processing center will be at Bawal in Rewari, Narwana in Jind and Manakpur in Yamunanagar. These centres will have various facilities such as raw material and finished goods warehouse, silos, multipurpose cold storage, deep freezer, IQF processing line, steam generation boiler, material handling equipment, quality control and food testing lab, dry warehouse, cold store, sorting and grading yard, milk chilling unit and storage for milk etc. It was informed in the meeting that along with civil work in Mega Food Park Rohtak, plant and machinery etc. would also be completed by next January, 2022.
HAFED’s sugar mill will be revived from losses
In the meeting, Assandh’s HAFED Sugar Mill was reviewed to help it recover from losses and it was informed by the concerned officials that along with increasing the capacity of the mill and modernizing it, the idea is to set up sugar refinery, distillery and Bio CNG etc. Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperation Department, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that HAFED is a good institution and there is a need for systematic reforms. Sh. Kaushal while directing the officers said that for setting up of Bio-CNG plant, first evaluation should be done and a committee should be constituted for this. Sh. Kaushal also directed the officers to complete all the works according to the time bound scheduled date and target based date.
CCTV cameras will be installed in the warehouses of HAFED
Similarly, it was informed in the meeting that the process of installation of CCTV systems in HAFED godowns is in progress and soon HAFED will install CCTV cameras in its godowns. While discussing about the sale in the meeting, the Cooperation Minister was told that Hafed sales are continuously increasing under which sale of Rs 73.61 crore in the year 2015-16, Rs. 74.49 crore in the year 2016-17, Rs. 96.15 crore in the year 2017-18, Rs. 267.03 crore in the year 2018-19, Rs. 340.98 crore in the year 2019-20 and in the year 2020 -21, the sale of Rs. 408.02 crore has been made by HAFED.
Several new activities launched by HAFED
It was informed in the meeting that recently several activities have been started by HAFED, under which marketing support to Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) is being given by HAFED and under this, honey, honey based products, vinegar and turmeric etc. are being sold through HAFED outlets. HAFED has also introduced Jaggery, Shakkar, Poha, Bajra Jeera Biscuits, Jowar Til Biscuits, etc.
In the meeting, MD, HAFED, Sh. A. Srinivas and Secretary, Sh. Rohit Yadav and other officers were also present.
