KARGIL, JULY 09, 2022 :- Department of Psychology GDC Kargil and the grievance and redressal committee organized a week-long workshop on mental health issues for female students on mental health issues like emotional and psychological problems.
A psychiatric nurse from District Hospital Kargil was specially invited for seven days to examine and collect the case history of those female students who were somehow experiencing any sort of mental health issue.
The workshop commenced on July 04, 2022, and concluded today (July 09). Scores of female students shared their issues and problems with the psychiatric expert and the resource person maintained ethics of assessment and kept the reports confidential.
By the end of the workshop, the resource person cited the signs of problematic situations related to mental health among adolescents at GDC Kargil.
In the week-long program, the students of psychology also took part in the workshop by mobilizing and motivating students to communicate with the resource person.
Talking about mental health as a stigma, the resource person also stated that such workshops must be organized quarterly in institutions to check the mental health status of students, especially female students.
Essentially, the workshop on mental health exclusively for females was conducted based on the pilot study conducted by the department of psychology where females were found to be involved in mental health issues.
HoD psychology department Dr Syed Ali Shah and Convenor College Grievance and Redressal Committee Mohd Javad jointly extended their sincere gratitude to CMO Kargil Dr Munawar wazir and BMO and Nodal officer mental health Dr Fatima Nissa for their support in making the workshop successful. The whole program was supervised by Dr Syed Ali Shah.
