A day long seminar on Cryosphere, Biosphere and Climate Change organised in collaboration with Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust was held today at GDC Zanskar.
Dr Tsewang Namgyal Director SLC(IT) was the lead speaker on the occasion. The inaugural session commenced with talk by Dr Tsewang Namgyal in which the speaker threw light on different important aspects of education and its true purpose.
The talk was followed by a talk on environmental and ecological situation of Zanskar by Lobzang Wangtak, renowned Water Conservationist.
He thoroughly enlightened the audience about the past environmental conditions of Zanskar and the present threats to environment and ecology of Zanskar region due the rampant developmental activities.
Dr Lobzang also apprised the gathering about the water conservation initiatives taken by his NGO.
In the post lunch session, faculties and students were taken to a field trip to Thsazar village during which Dr Tsewang briefed them about different medicinal plants and other wild plants, their ecological and commercial importance.
