A seminar took place with an aim and objective to prepare business community of UT, J&K to shift their trade including buying, selling, procurement on the newly introduced portal GeM. The workshop was held by District Industries Centre Budgam in collaboration with FCIK at Industries unit complex Sanatnagar Rawalpora. Speaking on the occasion incharge GeM for the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and UT of J&K representing Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, Kaushal Tyagi made public the aim of new procurement, buyer, seller portal GeM and added that its work structure is based on three tier system, Cashless, Contactless and paperless business. He also said GeM (Government-e-Marketing) is on spot line procurement portal for government buyers including central/state departments, besides can cover bidding of PSU business.
Tyagi said the GeM has been started to better the efficiency, transparency, inclusiveness under public procurement programme as it gives tools of bidding, raw procurement, and direct speed up the process for users to achieve the best value for their money. He said GeM is supported by Ministry of Corporate affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of MSME besides other public sector undertakings and renowned banking sector are fully envisaging cooperation, in addition CII and FCCI and other trade organizations are also cooperating best way. The day long workshop was also addressed by General Manager DIC Budgam, Dr. Mohammad Ashraf. The workshop among others was attended by President FCIK, representatives of FCIK, MSME unit holders of I.E Rangreth and Sanatnagar and other micro industry unit holders.
