The students of Government Model Degree College Zanskar on Thursday completed sixth day of the week-long biological tour to study the flora and fauna of Kargil district.
The tour began with the visit of GMDC Zanskar students to Skill Centre at Government Degree College, Kargil where Dr Javed Naqvi briefed them about the Centre.
The students of GMDC, Zanskar also interacted with the students of GDC Kargil. This was followed by a meeting with the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan and EC, Tourism and Zanskar Affairs, Er Punchok Tashi at the Council Secretariat where students briefed about the tour and flora and fauna of Kargil.
The students also interacted with EC Tourism and he encouraged students to have a positive outlook. The students found it interactive and productive.
Later, the students visited a high-density farm (HDF) built by a local agriculture and horticulture entrepreneur Ahmad at Kanor village.
The HDF mainly employed the technique of hydroponics (growing plants in water nutrient medium). It was followed by a visit to the fish farm at Khachan.
