Strict action should be taken against the guilty officers: Dr. Cheema

That on 24.01.2022 the Punjab Police on the orders of B. Chandra Shekhar, Director, BOI conducted multiple illegal raids on the residence of S. Bikram Singh Majithia at Chandigarh and Amritsar and went to extent to harass his family members, even when the wife and 8yrs old son were suffering from covid. That this act was in gross violation of the orders of the Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court dt. 10.01.2022 whereby interim protection was granted to S. Bikram Singh Majithia and on 24.01.2022 when this case again came up for hearing the bail application was disposed off and orders were awaited on consideration of time to be given to approach the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, which was eventually granted in the final order. This order of keeping the protection pending to file SLP was made in presence of Sh. P. Chidambram Senior Advocate appearing for State of Punjab, Sh. D.S Patwalia, Ld Advocate General of Punjab and Sh. Gaurav Garg Dhuriwala, Senior DAG Punjab. That This fact was also widely reported in Newspaper one of which being Hindustan Times finds mentioned in the High Court order as Annexure-B & C.
That the Punjab police without even waiting for the final orders and under the political pressure of Chief Minister S. Charanjit Singh Channi and Home Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa who are functioning in such a unlawful manner through their blue eyed officer B. Chandra Shekhar. It is relevant to mentioned here that this officer was given this prime posting immediately before the model code of conduct. The Punjab Police raided the house of S. Bikram Singh Majithia to carry forwarded the vindictive stand of the ruling dispensation with the ulterior motive to stop S. Bikram Singh Majithia to file his nomination papers for the upcoming Punjab Vidhan Sabha Election, 2022. Who is contesting apart from his own constituency of Majitha and also from Amritsar East which is the constituency of S. Navjot Singh Sidhu, President of PPCC. That this act of Punjab Police is a gross violation of the model code of conduct and contempt of the orders of Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court.
Hence, It is requested that stern action should be taken keeping in view the seriousness of the incident whereby the fundamental rights of an individual were infringed by the Punjab Police, (BOI) under the patronage of the political Godfathers. It is a serious threat to the free and fair election process going on in the State of Punjab. Further it is demanded that strict action should be taken against the erring officials.
