Ground Verification Process for Swachh Survekshan-2024 Underway in State

Testing Completed in 269 Cities

Cleanliness is a resolution  that has been transformed into a mass movement in Madhya Pradesh. The state has embraced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of cleanliness. The results of the cleanliness movement are now becoming visible. Like every year, the world’s largest cleanliness competition, Swachh Survekshan-2024, is in progress.

Cities in the state are actively participating in Swachh Survekshan with great seriousness. During the survey, teams from the Government of India visit cities to assess their cleanliness management. The survey includes three major evaluations: the basic preparedness for cleanliness, Open Defecation Free (ODF++) and Water+ certification for proper wastewater management, and the star rating for garbage-free cities with 1-star, 3-star, 5-star, and 7-star ratings.

Currently, the basic preparedness assessment is underway, with testing completed in 269 cities. Survey teams are reaching the remaining cities for their evaluation. After this phase, the assessments for ODF++ certification and star ratings will begin.

It is noteworthy that urban bodies in Madhya Pradesh work throughout the year to maintain urban cleanliness. An effective system has been developed for regular waste collection, transportation, and disposal, ensuring the cleanliness of cities. After successfully enforcing the ban on open defecation, efforts are now being made to help cities achieve ODF++ and Water+ certification. The Urban Administration & Housing Department continues to appeal to citizens, youth, and public representatives to support the mission of making cities cleaner. The transformed urban landscape is a testament to the success of the government’s initiatives.
