Saluting the hard work of the diligent workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who have been sitting on a dharna for the last four days against the scam of Dalit children’s post-matric scholarship scheme, AAP’s Punjab affairs co-incharge Raghav Chadha has described the release of money of the post-matric scholarship scheme by the government as the victory of the workers. Raghav Chadha said that the hard work of the Aam Aadmi Party workers has finally paid off when the Punjab government on Friday announced the release of 40 percent of its share in the money. The Aam Aadmi Party had surrounded the government for the last several months on this issue and from the gherao of Captain Amarinder Singh’s residence to dharna demonstrations were held across the state.
AAP’s senior leader and Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, MLA Saravjit Kaur Manuke and Manwinder Singh Giaspura were sitting on a hunger strike for the last 4 days in Ludhiana. Congratulating the leaders, Chadha said that the party is proud of them for fighting for the cause of Dalits. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party has always played the role of the opposition party in a better way, has brought down the government on every issue and has raised the voice of the people. “With the release of post-matric scholarship scheme money, Dalit children of Punjab would get an opportunity to pursue higher education,” he added. Chadha further said that the Aam Aadmi Party will not allow the government to run away from its work and responsibilities in future as well; it will keep a close watch on all the departments of the government.
The AAP leader said that now that the Punjab cabinet has announced to release the scholarship amount, the government should start the process of releasing the amount as soon as possible, so that the future of Dalit children can be secured. Chadha said that it would have been good if the government had released this money in time, then the Dalit children would not have to suffer so much. He said that if the Captain government now retracts from its promise, then the Aam Aadmi Party will gherao the government on a large scale. Chadha said that the government has just made an announcement in this matter that is why the Aam Aadmi Party will keep the pressure on the government till the Dalit children get their roll numbers. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party will continue to remind the government of its duty on every issue in future also
