Haryana boasts structural Vaccination roll out strategies: 57,11,985 doses have been administered summing upto 16 per cent of the targeted doses

Chandigarh, June 1 – With an aim to ensure 100 per cent vaccination, the Haryana Government has been formulating comprehensive strategies which were implemented in a systematic manner resulting in the administration of more than 57 lakh vaccination doses to beneficiaries till date.

            Sharing details in this regard, an official spokesperson of the Health Department said that the State Government aims to administer the vaccine to 1.75 crore beneficiaries, including 1.05 crore beneficiaries falling in the age group of 18 to 44 years and the remaining 71 lakh in the age group of 45  to 60 years and above. Thus, around 3.5 crore vaccination doses are to be administered to 1.75 crore beneficiaries of which 57,11,985 doses have been administered which sums up to 16 per cent of the targeted doses.

            He elaborated that since the COVID Vaccination drive was launched on January 16, the State Government has taken numerous steps to ensure immaculate administration of the vaccine. Among the different strategies, including conducting Mega Vaccination Drives and Social Vaccination Drives, aggressive vaccination drives on Mega Vaccination Days, administering vaccination costing Rs 800 crore free of cost to people above 18 years of age, daily updation of vaccine stock and its rational distribution as per requirement were implemented. On the administration of vaccine, the spokesperson said that an amount of Rs 316 crore has already been released by the State Government for vaccines which were administered free of cost to the people of the state and the remaining vaccine costing about Rs 484 crore will soon be obtained. He shared that Haryana is among the few states which are administering vaccines free of cost to 18 years and above age group as the State Government is committed to vaccinate all its eligible beneficiaries.

            Besides this, State Steering Committee was constituted for smooth roll out and implementation of vaccination process. He said that as in the first phase the vaccination of Health Care Workers and Frontline Workers was planned thus, the majority of Vaccination Centres were made operational in areas with high concentration of this category.

            Divulging details of the strategy implemented he said that the State Government has laid emphasis on administration of vaccines in a phased manner reciprocal to the supply to prevent overcrowding of beneficiaries at the Vaccination Centres thereby adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines. In the first two phases of vaccination roll out HCWs and FLWs were to be administered the vaccine while in the third phase the vaccination of beneficiaries between 45 to 60 with co-morbidities and 60 above was started. It was during this time that the State Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal started the unique concept of ‘Mega Vaccination Day’ so as to ensure the penetration of the vaccine in the villages as well. Thereafter the number of Vaccination Centres were enhanced and were strategically placed in close proximity to residential areas even in villages so that maximum people of the state can be administered the vaccine.

            The spokesperson further said that following the vision of the Chief Minister to administer vaccine to each and every eligible beneficiary, the State has already administered vaccine to 82 per cent of its HCWs and 82 per cent of FLWs and soon the entire state will be vaccinated.

            Among other steps, the State Government adopted inter-sectoral approach to motivate and mobilize hesitant beneficiaries for which various Departments namely, Women & Child Development, Education, Medical Education & Research Department, PRI, ULB, Police, Social Justice and Empowerment Department were looped in to augment vaccination drive.

            Among the activities conducted to motivate people to get themselves vaccinated the State Government shared videos of prominent doctors on social media, influencers in all districts were identified who motivated the public for vaccination, prioritized age groups were vaccinated and stickers “I am Vaccinated” were distributed among vaccinated beneficiaries, even ASHA workers were mobilized for motivating people to get themselves vaccinated, relevant IEC activities were conducted and videos were displayed at public places and Covid Vaccination Centres, he added.
