Haryana Department of Food & Drugs Administration issues notice to National Dairy Research Institute Karnal

Chandigarh, February 4– Haryana, Department of Food & Drugs Administration has issued notice to National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal as the packaging of Arjuna Herbal Ghee had mentioned that the said product is a “Technology of ICAR-NDRI”. The Department had recently conducted raid at Misthi Farmer Producer Co. Ltd when the ghee packaging was seized and has asked NDRI, Karnal to give an explanation for the same.

Besides this, the ghee packages are being sold with expired registration and it is mentioned that “Technical Collaboration Signed with TBI-NDRI”.

Sharing more details in this regard, Additional Chief Secretary Health, Rajeev Arora said that the State Flying Team, constituted on the directions of the Haryana Health Minister, Anil Vij, had conducted a raid at Misthi Farmer Producer Co. Ltd., Karnal and seized 8,000 kg of adulterated ghee as it had mentioned expired registration number on its packaging. The registration had expired in 2019.

Sharing details, Commissioner, Food & Drugs Administration, Lalit Siwach said that it was mentioned on another ghee packaging “Technical Collaboration with signed (Technology Business Incubator) TBI-NDRI” which is matter of concern for the Department. Siwach said that I have personally taken up matter with NDRI, Karnal and talked to scientist concerned. There is no agreement as such for technical collaboration. The formal MOU expired long time back. Now, the NDRI is to take legal action against the firm for various violations.” The notice also mentioned that the packages of Arjuna Herbal Ghee mentioned “Technology of ICAR-NDRI”, thus the Department has asked NDRI, Karnal to give an explanation for the same.
