Chandigarh, October 29 – Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala has directed the officers to prepare a database of the unorganized labourers of the State so that they can be empowered by giving them the benefits of various Government schemes.

He also called for registration of unorganized labourers by ensuring maximum publicity regarding the e-shram portal prepared by the Central Government for the registration of unorganized workers.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the charge of Labour and Employment Department, presided over the first meeting of ‘Haryana State Social Security Board’ at Haryana Niwas here today in which Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sh. Anoop Dhanak, Chairman and MLA, Sugarfed, Sh. Ramkaran Kala along with various senior officers and board members were present.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala, who is also the Chairman of ‘Haryana State Social Security Board’, informed after the meeting that e-Shram Portal has been developed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, in which National Register of Unorganized Workers with Aadhaar Number  with which the database will be created so that the benefits of social security schemes can be extended to them.  He said that in this portal, from farm labourers to street vendors, hawkers, workers working in mandi, MGNREGA workers, self-help group workers, Anganwadi workers, mid-day meal workers, Asha workers, rickshaw drivers etc will be considered. The unorganized labourers working in these sectors will be encouraged to get themselves registered.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the workers registered on the e-shram portal will be given the benefit of ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana’, apart from this they will request the Central Government to include these labourers in the Ayushman Bharat scheme so that their families will also get the cover of Rs. 5 lakh.  He informed that about 2.66 lakh unorganized labourers have been registered on the e-shram portal in the State, while the remaining labourers will also be encouraged to get registered on this portal.

He directed the officers to set up district level units of ‘Haryana State Social Security Board’ soon.  On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Development and Panchayat Department, Sh. Amit Jha, Principal Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment, Sh. Vineet Garg, Principal Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department Sh. Arun Gupta, Labour Commissioner, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal, special officers of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department.  Secretary Sh Amarjit Singh Mann along with other senior officers and representatives of workers were present.
