Haryana on top in wrestling, bags 4 out of 5 gold medals

In volleyball, both teams of Haryana reached the final, will compete with Tamil Nadu

Chandigarh, June 6 :-  In the Khelo India Youth Games being held in Panchkula, today wrestlers of Haryana won 4 medals out of 5 gold medals in the wrestling competition of boys and girls.  In Greco-Roman 55 kg weight category, Suraj of Haryana won the gold medal by defeating Vishwajeet of Maharashtra by 10-1 points.

On the other hand, in women’s 61 kg weight category, Haryana’s Savita won gold medal by 10-6 points.  The silver medal in this category was also won by Shiksha of Haryana.  Similarly, in the boys’ freestyle 60 kg weight category, Ravinder of Haryana defeated Ajay of Maharashtra by 11-8 points and won gold medal. In 71 kg weight category, Narender of Haryana won the gold medal by defeating Amit of Haryana.  In this weight category, silver was also won by the wrestler of Haryana.  In this way Haryana won 7 out of 10 medals.

Haryana also gave outstanding performance in the competition of volleyball

Dr. M. H Kumara, Competition Manager of Volleyball Games said that the players of Haryana showed enthusiasm in both the semi-finals of boys and girls in volleyball event today.  Both the teams have entered the finals.  It is also interesting here that both the teams are competing with the teams of Tamil Nadu.  In the first semi-final of boys, Haryana defeated Rajasthan in a tough competition.  In the second semi-final, Tamil Nadu defeated Gujarat and made it to the final.
