Haryana Excise and Taxation Department will be equipped with advanced technology before the new financial year: Dushyant Chautala
Chandigarh, January 19: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala said that the Haryana Excise and Taxation Department will be equipped with advanced technology before the new financial year so that this module can become the best in the country and set an example nationwide. Apart from this, officers who have done excellent work will be awarded at the district level.
He was speaking as Chief Guest at the seminar organized by Haryana Excise and Taxation Department on the topic ‘GST Registration, Refund and Investigation’ at Panchkula today. The programme was chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, Excise and Taxation Department, Anurag Rastogi. Commissioner, Excise and Taxation Department, Shekhar Vidyarthi among other officers were present during the seminar.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Excise and Taxation Department, appreciated the work done by officers of Excise and Taxation Department during COVID-19 and said that despite unfavorable conditions, the department made collections in GST and played an important role in other matters as well. After listening to the suggestions given by the field officers and the obstacles being faced by them, he said that technology is changing day by day in the present era due to which there is a need to upgrade the hardware, software of the computers and other systems of the department. He directed senior officers to allocate the duties to junior officers in a proper manner so that they can bring efficiency and quality in the work.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers of Excise and Taxation Department to form a team of subject-experts and experienced officers to make a list of the value of the products so that no producer is able to evade tax by creating under-bills. He called upon the field officers to make maximum suggestions so that the system can be made transparent and strong, this will expedite the work and prevent fraud digitally.
Anurag Rastogi said that the Seminar is a part of the Deputy Chief Minister’s vision. He said that there have been a lot of challenges in collecting tax in the last 3-4 years when GST was introduced after VAT, however, today’s seminar will bring significant changes in the functioning of the department. He said that the department will soon take action on suggestions related to tax evasion FIR, investigation of the case, computer hardware, IT and training of officers and employees for refund of tax, etc.
