Haryana Gau Seva Aayog signs agreement with HAREDA; Government to install solar power plants in all cow-shelters

Chandigarh, January 29 – Haryana Government will install solar power plants in all cow-shelters (Gaushalas) of the state following which Haryana Gau Seva Aayog has signed an agreement with HAREDA.

In addition, Biogas plants will also be set up in all cow-shelters based on the number of cows. This information was given by the Chairman of Gau Seva Aayog, Sarwan Kumar Garg during a press conference at Fatehabad today.

Garg said that the state government has also bought machines for converting cow dung into wood in many cow sheds of the state and funeral processions are also being done in many areas of the state with this wood. During funeral ceremonies, the consumption of wood converted from cow dung is used 60 per cent less than that of normal wood.

The Chairman said that in order to develop self sustainable cow shelters in the state, so far solar power plants have been installed in about 330 Cow Sheds in which electricity is being produced.  He said that these cow shelters have been connected to the power grid. If the power generated in the solar power plant installed in cow shelters is more than the requirement, then it will be transferred to the grid and in case of power shortage, the power will be taken from the power grid for the cowsheds.

He said that after the formation of the Government in 2014 in Haryana, Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015 for cow protection was passed under the leadership of Chief Minister, Manohar Lal to check smuggling of cows. To further strengthen these laws for cow protection, the Cow Task Force will be constituted soon in all the districts of the state which will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district. This Task Force will include members of social organizations.
