Haryana Government prepares roadmap for the overall and integrated development of Panchkula
Chandigarh, March 24: Haryana Government has prepared a roadmap for the overall and integrated development of Panchkula district in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister, Manohar Lal. The district will be developed as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in various areas, which will be completely ecological and eco-friendly. In this series, it is planned to develop a film city on about 50-60 acres of land in HMT Pinjore where model studios will be developed.
Principal Secretary, Town and Country Planning Department, AK Singh during a review meeting today directed the officers of the concerned departments to expedite the various projects being implemented for the purpose of integrated development of the district.
He said that Panchkula district will be a centre for planned regional development where there will be complete focus on cultural activities including tourism, entertainment, recreation, medicine, industrial development, sports and Ayurveda. For this, the Forest, Tourism and Sports departments are working together.
AK Singh said that several projects have been started to improve the connectivity here. Under ‘PR-7’, connectivity work will be expedited on the road proposed by Punjab to Chandigarh Airport. In this series, construction work of bridge on Ghaggar river is going on to connect Sector-20-21 and Sector-24-26.
He said that work will also be done to upgrade Ramgarh-Mubarakpur-Derabassi road on NH-73 for connectivity to Ramgarh. Apart from this, the road will also be widened from Morni-Raipur Rani Road on NH-73 and from Chandimandir T-Junction to Morni Road on NH-73. There is also a plan for connectivity of Ramgarh to Himachal Pradesh by connecting Sector-32, Panchkula to DLF township in Pinjore near Parwanoo.
AK Singh said that instead of concrete structures, emphasis will be laid on temporary and nature-friendly construction in terms of tourism. In addition, the possibility of paragliding in Thapli forest will also be explored along with camping and trekking. He said that structures of buildings like Mountain Quail, Morni and Yadavindra Gardens, Pinjore as well as Red Bishop would be used in the area to promote tourism.
He said that for the purpose of promoting medical tourism in the area, 7 to 10 places will be identified for hospitals. Possibilities of increasing cooperation from PGI, Chandigarh to provide medical facilities on the lines of Medanta, Gurugram will also be explored. Similarly, work will also be done towards setting up institutes like Education City here. He said that the pharma industry falling under the White, Green and Orange categories will be promoted here. At the same time, options for running the IT Park at Sector-22 at full capacity will also be explored. In addition, Barwala will be developed as an industrial township.
Senior officials of the concerned departments were also present during the meeting.
