Haryana Government to observe December 27 as public holiday in areas within the jurisdiction of elections

Chandigarh, December 16 – In view of General Election for the seat of Mayor and Members of the wards of various Municipal Corporations and President and Members of Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees in the state, the Haryana Government has decided to observe December 27, 2020 as a public holiday in the offices of all Departments/Boards/Corporations/Educational Institutions under the State Government and in all the factories, commercial establishments, shops etc. falling within the jurisdiction of all wards of Municipal Corporations/Municipal Committees where the election is to be held to enable the employees of Government offices and various factories, commercial establishments etc. to cast their vote.

While stating this here today a spokesman of the General Administration Department said that a notification has been issued in this regard.

He said that December 27, 2020 has been fixed by the State Election Commission, Haryana as day of Poll for General Election for the seat of Mayor and Members of the Wards of Municipal Corporations of Ambala, Panchkula and Sonepat and President and Members of the Municipal Council of Rewari, Municipal Committee, Sampla (Rohtak), Dharuhera (Rewari), and Uklana (Hisar) and Bye-election of Ward Number 07 of Municipal Committee, Indri, (Karnal), Ward Number 13 of Bhuna (Fatehabad), Ward Number 12 of Rajound (Kaithal), Ward Number 14 of Municipal Council, Fatehabad and Ward Number 29 of Municipal Council, Sirsa.
