Haryana Health Department bags four awards on Good Governance Day

Chandigarh, December 29 – Haryana Health Department has achieved another milestone as the Department has bagged four prestigious Awards on the Good Governance Day (Sushasan Diwas-2020).

Pragmatic approach, perseverance and comprehensive planning of the officers of the Department led to appropriate penetration of Information Technology (IT) in the Department which led to smooth online functioning of various programmes especially during COVID-19 situation.

The four “Atal Bihari Vajpayee Good Governance Awards -2020” bagged by the Health Department are – for Achieving Immunization for all under Universal Immunization Programme, Implementation of e-Sanjeevani OPD tele-consultation, ASHA Sarvekshan App to Cover Door to Door COVID 19 Survey by ASHA and  Good Governance Award 2020 to Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Haryana.

Sharing information on the various steps taken by the Department so as to ensure flawless penetration of IT initiatives and absolute digitisation, Additional Chief Secretary Health, Rajeev Arora said that the digitisation played a pivotal role in monitoring the immunisation process. Elaborating in it further he said that the data regarding fully immunized children against live birth is maintained in Health Management Information System (HMIS) portal and the information regarding real time stock management of immunization vaccines is available in eVIN portal. “The smooth functioning of these portals prevented the wastage of vaccines significantly,” he pointed out.

Arora said that the Department has been able to excel in enhancing the online service due to the collaborative efforts under the guidance of Mission Director, National Health Mission, Haryana, Mr. Prabhjot Singh and the entire team doctors headed by Director National Health Mission, Haryana, Dr. V.K. Bansal.

While the second award was given for the Implementation of e-Sanjeevani OPD tele-consultation which was spearheaded by Dr. S.B. Kamboj, Director General Health Services, Haryana, said Arora. Sharing details of the efforts made to ensure functioning of e-SanjeevaniOPD Dr. Kamboj said that the e-Sanjeevani OPD was implemented in the State since May 1, 2020 wherein the training of doctors was organised in collaboration with C-DAC Mohali. Divulging more details, said that at present two OPDs General OPD and Specialized OPDs are functioning from 10 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM from Monday to Saturday. “These OPDs were a boon during COVID-19 as the people could take doctors’ advice at the ease of their homes,” he added.

The indefatigable efforts done by ASHA workers during COVID-19 pandemic situation was also awarded. Sharing details in this regard, Mr. Prabhjot Singh said that ASHA workers went door to door to gather information regarding the COVID-19 patients and suspected patients which was uploaded on the ASHA Sarvekshan App. “This helped in early detection and timely referrals of COVID-19 suspected cases,” he added.

Prabhjot Singh said the 20,268 ASHA workers mapped the urban and rural slum areas in the state along with Containment zones by using ASHA Sarvekshan Mobile Application which facilitated Line-listing of High Risk Population, ILI (Influenza Like Illness) and Pneumonia Symptomatic with difficulty in breathing cases and their follow-up was done for lab test, management/treatment subsequently. “The efforts made enhanced the recovery rate due to timely identification and management and identifying the oxygen level among critical cases and their referral,” added Mr. Prabhjot Singh.

The Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Haryana was also awarded owing to the innovative IEC campaigns initiated by the Department. Divulging more details, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ayushman Bharat Haryana, Mrs. Amneet P. Kumar said that a unique IEC campaign with the title “ChaupalpeCharcha- Jeevan ke rang Ayushman ke Sang” with the objective to create awareness about Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) was undertaken by (AB-HHPA) Ayushman Bharat Haryana Health Protection Authority. “For this initiative, 600 saksham yuva were deployed and were trained and equipped with IEC material to visit villages and wards to hold nukkad nataks, gram sabhas and meeting were arranged,” she added. Besides this, field visits of districts were also undertaken by the teams in Headquarters for Monitoring of the Saksham Yuva activities and card generation. The efforts led to swift generation Golden Card under PMJAY and a total of 5.37 lakh applications for generation of Golden Cards for the beneficiaries were processed out of which 4.94 lakh cards were made for the beneficiaries of AB-PMJAY in only 60 days, she added.
