Haryana wins 4 out of 5 gold, girls take 2 gold as well
Chandigarh, June 8 – During the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games-2021 in Panchkula, the players of Haryana continued to dominate on the last day of wrestling matches on Wednesday. In the final matches of wrestling held today, the boys and girls won 4 out of 5 gold medals. Apart from this, they also bagged 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
Haryana’s gold in 80 and 92 kg weight category in wrestling
In boys’ 80 kg weight category, the final match was held between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in freestyle wrestling. Sagar Jaglan of Haryana won the gold medal by defeating Praveen Kumar Yadav of Uttar Pradesh. While Delhi’s Mukul won the bronze medal.
Similarly, Sahil of Haryana won the gold medal by defeating Vishal of Delhi in 92 kg weight category Greco-Roman wrestling. While Navneet of Haryana and Anil of Delhi won bronze medals.
Silver in Haryana’s kitty for 55 kg weight category wrestling
The final match was held between Haryana and Maharashtra in boys’ 55 kg weight category wrestling. Surendra of Haryana gave a tough competition to Vaibhav Patil of Maharashtra. Vaibhav Patil bagged the gold medal and Surendra bagged the silver medal. Madhya Pradesh’s Shravan Kaushal and Karnataka’s Amit won bronze medals.
Girls also win 2 gold
Haryana stood first in girls’ 53 kg weight category wrestling. The final match of wrestling was between Haryana’s Antim and Maharashtra’s Kalyani Pandurang, in which Antim defeated Kalyani and became the gold medal winner. Similarly, Haryana’s Aarti and Punjab’s Manjit Kaur won bronze medals.
Pulkit of Haryana won the gold medal by defeating Anjali of Haryana in the women’s 65 kg weight category wrestling. On the other hand, Anjali had to be content with the silver medal. While Pallavi Anil of Maharashtra and Varsha of Haryana won the bronze medal.
With these final matches held today, the wrestling matches came to an end. The players got a lot of love from the spectators during these matches. It is noteworthy that in wrestling, Haryana’s boys and girls continued to dominate and till now Haryana has managed to maintain itself at number one in the medal tally.
