Chandigarh, July 5 – Haryana Police has busted a gang that used to target unmanned ATMs and loot them using gas-cutters. Police also seized three desi katta, Rs 29.64 lakh in cash, a gas cutter kit and two vehicles from the possession of four accused arrested in Palwal district.
Sharing the information here today, the Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested accused were identified as Nisaar, Muhammad, Naseem, all residents of district Nuh and Gopal of Palwal district.
During the primary probe, arrested accused confessed that they had stolen recovered money by cutting an ATM with a gas cutter from Rangia town in Assam.
It was revealed that Nisaar has similar cases pending against him in Madhya Pradesh where police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 on his arrest. Similarly, Gopal was involved in NDPS cases in Uttar Pradesh. The gang, which was traveling in a car and canter, is suspected to have broken into many ATMs.
Based on a specific tip-off, a police team intercepted a car and canter at a naka. When searched, it recovered Rs 29.64 lakh in cash from the car and gas cutter kit from the canter alongwith the illegal weapons from arrested accused.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act. Further investigation of the case is underway.
