Chandigarh, Oct 26 – Tightening the noose on criminals and anti-social elements in Palwal district, Haryana Police have arrested 34 criminals carrying a reward ranging from Rs 2500 to Rs 50,000 during the last one year. Apart from this, 73 proclaimed offenders and 121 bail jumpers, who were absconding for a long time, were also arrested.
While giving information in this regard here today, a spokesperson of Haryana Police said that police along with civil administration has also demolished the illegal construction of half a dozen miscreants by rolling bulldozers on these premises. All these miscreants were booked in heinous cases of crime like murder, robbery, dacoity, assault etc.
Referring to the crackdown against those possessing illegal arms, the spokesperson informed that the police registered 197 cases under the offense and arrested 208 accused in this connection. From the possession of arrested accused, police recovered 4 country-made guns, 53 pistols, 200 desi katta, 16 magazines, one gun, 174 live cartridges and a large quantity of material used in manufacturing illegal weapons after busting a factory of making illegal arms.
He said that 55 cases were registered against the persons involved in drug peddling during the same period and 80 accused were arrested. Police has also recovered over 4499 kg of Ganja patti, 791 kg of chura post, 2 kg and 83 gm sulpha, 27.730 kg of opium plants, 3.60 gm smack, 443 prohibited intoxicant capsules, 2715 banned tablets and 213720 capsules from the possession of arrested accused.
During this period, the police recovered 62 stolen vehicles, including trucks, cars, tractors, motorcycles, canters, dumpers, pickup and arrested 54 accused in this connection. The police have also recovered stolen property worth Rs 4 crore.
The drive to arrest wanted criminals and other offenders is going on across the state and further instilling a sense of security and safety among the masses, he added.
