Haryana State Legal Services Authority and Haryana Government initiates a comprehensive COVID-19 Awareness Campaign

Chandigarh, March 27- In view of the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, Haryana State Legal Services Authority along with Haryana Government has initiated a comprehensive Awareness Campaign titled, “Mat Ja Nazdeek, Khud Ko Rakh Theek, Un Par Rahe Aank, Dhake Na Jo Muh Aur Nak”.

Giving information in this regard an official spokesperson of Haryana State Legal Services Authority said that the Authority has initiated the Campaign in all district offices of Legal Services Authorities. Its main objective is to spread awareness in the society with regard to COVID-19 pandemic and to develop the habit of wearing masks in the right manner. Besides this, the campaign also aims to spread awareness about appropriate implementation of various health parameters, wearing of masks and maintaining physical hygiene among masses.

He informed that Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Rajan Gupta and Executive Chairman of Haryana State Legal Services Authority, launched this campaign from Chandigarh. On this occasion, Advocate General of Haryana, Baldev Raj Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Rajeev Arora, Director General Prisons, K.K. Selvaraj and Member Secretary of the Authority and District and Sessions Judge, Pramod Goyal were present.

The said project will be undertaken across the State in coordination with Health Department, Haryana with an aim to inform public about the vaccination drive, to clear misgivings about COVID vaccination and to promote volunteer vaccination. The spokesperson said that the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) shall also undertake the task of making masks with the help of Jail Authorities, NGOs and volunteers and distribute these masks to the needy persons free of cost.

The spokesperson said that the Authority had earlier also conducted several activities to fight pandemic, under which more than 4,000 awareness camps were organised and information was imparted to 4.40 lakh persons and 2 lakh masks and sanitizers were distributed and educational assistance was provided to 2,700 persons. Apart from this, assistance was also provided to 3.50 lakh workers in collaboration with District Administration and NGOs.

He informed that the Acting Chairman of the Authority, Justice Rajan Gupta, has taken strict cognizance of the increasing outbreak of the pandemic and has decided to carry out this campaign across the state.
