THREE SUB-CENTRES WOULD BE UPGRADED TO PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRES IN MACHHIWARA

Chandigarh/Ludhiana, September 6:
To provide quality health services to the women and infants in Samrala sub-division, Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Monday announced a 30-bedded Mother and Child Care Centre.
Presiding over installation ceremony of first Chairman of newly set up Machhiwara Improvement Trust Shakti Anand, the Cabinet Minister said that Punjab government is committed to ramp up the health infrastructure in the state and this new centre would ensure best treatment facilities to the mothers and new born of the area.
He said that this would be seperate building from Civil Hospital in the Samrala and added work would start soon on the centre.
He said that state government has been consistently performing better than most of the states in the country in care of pregnant women and neonatal care under one roof.
He said added that once the building comes into existence, the required infrastructure and equipment would also be arranged and required gynaecologists, paediatricians, staff nurses, and other paramedical staff would also be appointed.
Sidhu said that the centre would provide completely free treatment including medicines, food, new born diet, transportation to the mother and child.
The Minister also announced upgradation of Jhar Sahib Panjgrain and Hambowal Health Sub-centers to Primary Health Centres.
He also detailed the gathering about steps taken by government during first and second waves of Covid-19 pandemic. He also appealed people to take optimum benefit of Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna by enrolling themselves for cashless treatment in government and private health institutions.
Meanwhile, Samrala MLA Amrik Singh Dhillon said that formation of Improvement Trust in Machhiwara would give impetus to the overall development of this historic town.
He said that this would further open new avenues of development and prosperity of the this area in general and Ludhiana district in particular.
The projects of Food Processing Industry and ITI at Machhiwara would be completed soon which would benefit all sections of the society, he said and added that every village panchayat in this constituency has received developmental grants worth Rs 50 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
Thanking the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Chairman Shakti Anand said that he would fulfil to the best of his abilities and responsibilities assigned to him. He said that his priority would be to get implemented various development schemes in this historic town of the Ludhiana through new residential colonies.
Prominent among present on the occasion Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vikramjit Singh Panthey, Civil Surgeon Dr Kiran Gill Ahluwalia, Samrala Municipal Council Chief Karanvir Singh Dhillon, President Surinder Kundra, Congress leader Kamil Boparai and others were present.
