Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Society organises blood donation camp

The Red Cross today organised a blood donation camp in association with Sant Nirankari Mission here today which was inaugurated by Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, who is also the President of Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Society. The Chairperson of State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section Dr. Sadhna Thakur was also present on this occasion.
About 104 units of blood were donated during this camp in which all volunteers of the Mission participated. The Governor and Dr. Sadhna Thakur honoured the blood donors on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that blood donation was a life-giving act which saves many lives. It also inculcates the feeling of serving towards humanity. He said that today the entire country was fighting against Covid-19 and the people and governments were making all out efforts to come out of this situation. He expressed his gratitude towards all the Corona warriors and also appreciated the services being provided by the social organizations like Sant Nirankari Mission.
Expressing satisfaction over this noble cause, the Governor said that organizations like Sant Nirankari Mission have come forward to protect humanity in this hour of crisis. He said that Sant Nirankari Mandal in the State had presented 50 oxygen concentrators to the state government during this period. Besides, awareness work, providing masks and sanitizers, Sant Nirankari Mandal made a significant contribution in medical helpline, offered SNM schools for quarantine, provision of raw food to the community, relief to the migrant workers and the daily wagers and other voluntarily service throughout the country, which is commendable.
“The mission is not a prevailing religion or sect, but a spiritual ideology. This ideology is related to human service and I believe that there is no religion greater than human service”, said Dattatraya. He added that the biggest power in fighting the Corona pandemic was self-confidence and courage and Sant Nirankari Mission was doing an excellent service in awakening this spirit.
The Governor said that during the pandemic, it was being observed that there was a shortage of blood in the hospitals and in such a situation, this initiative of Red Cross and Sant Nirankari Mission was laudable. He said that blood donation was a great contribution and such gestures should be conveyed to the people and this could save the lives of millions of people.
“If someone’s life is saved because of you, then it is not possible to describe in words the satisfaction you will feel”, said the Governor.
He appealed to the people to get vaccinated for Corona in the schedule time, wear masks properly, follow hygiene and maintain proper distance. With this you would be able to keep yourself safe from this pandemic and would also be able to protect others also.
Earlier, the Governor flagged off vehicles carrying Covid relief material for the District Red Cross Branches which would be distributed to the general public.
Chairman Central Planning and Advisory Board Sant Nirankari Mission Sukhdev Singh welcomed the Governor on the occasion. Member Incharge, Social Welfare Joginder Singh proposed vote of thanks.
Secretary to the Governor Rakesh Kanwar was also present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi, Secretary State Red Cross P.S. Rana, Zonal Incharge Shimla SNM Rajwant Kaur, Coordinator Shimla Capt. N.P.S. Bhullar and Kshetriya Sanchalak Shimla Zone from SNM Narinder Kashyap were also present on this occasion.
