Deputy Commissioners to conduct special girdawari to assess the damage caused to cotton and moong crops due to heavy rains and water logging in the state since September 5, 2021 and send its report by October 15, 2021

Haryana Government has directed the Deputy Commissioners to conduct special girdawari to assess the damage caused to cotton and moong crops due to heavy rains and water logging in the state since September 5, 2021 and send its report by October 15, 2021, so that after Girdawari, timely compensation to the farmers can be given.

While stating this here today, a spokesperson of Revenue and Disaster Management Department said that under this special Girdawari, those areas would be identified where the damage to cotton and moong crops is 25 percent or more. He said that special girdawari would be done in all the districts of the state to detect the damage to moong crop and for cotton crops in all the districts except Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar.

The spokesperson said that the assessment of damage to cotton and moong crops would be done in the category of 25 to 33 percent, 33 to 50 percent, 50 to 75 percent and 75 to 100 percent. All revenue officers will have to ensure that they conduct a supervisory check of the girdawari entries. In addition, damaged area covered under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana or any other crop insurance scheme will not be included in this special girdawari. He said that after special girdawari, all the Deputy Commissioners have been directed to remove the name of the beneficiary of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and send the report through their Divisional Commissioner by October 15, 2021.

He said that with a view to ensuring that compensation is not given in cases where farmers have also applied for crop insurance, a software application has been made to build a database of the Kharaba entries. Data entry is being done at Tehsil level in both Haris and Web Halris. It is essential to ensure that compensation of crops is not paid to those farmers who have already applied and registered themselves for crop insurance.

The spokesperson said that upon completion of data entry a printout of the village data will be taken and will be given to Agriculture Development Officer/Deputy Director of Agriculture, Officer/Deputy Director of Agriculture will verify/ deduct the names of the farmers that are covered under PMFBY.

        Apart from this, the list of special girdawari will be cross-checked with the entries of ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ before finalization.
