Rewarded criminal-turned-film worker held by Haryana STF

Chandigarh Aug 1- The Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police has arrested a criminal and proclaimed offender, carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. The arrested accused was absconding for last about 30 years in multiple cases of murder and theft.

While giving information here today, a spokesman of Haryana Police said that arrested accused has been identified as Omprakash alias Pasa, a resident of Naraina, police station Samalkha in district Panipat.

The accused started working in the local films of Uttar Pradesh and since 2007 he had played the role of an artist in 28 movies like Takraav, Dabang Chhora U.P. and Jhatka.

The crackdown was made by a team of STF Gurugram from Harbans Nagar, Ghaziabad where the accused was residing by hiding his identity to evade police arrest.

The primary probe also revealed that accused Omprakash alias Pasa came into the crime world in 1984 after being marked absent from the Signal Corps of the Army. He was dismissed from service in the year 1988. In 1992, he stabbed his associate leading to his death during a robbery and escaped. A case has been registered in this regard in Bhiwani district. He changed his name and address and started living in Harbans Nagar, Ghaziabad.

The accused will be handed over to the Sadar police station, Bhiwani for further action.

Details of the cases registered against the accused:

  1. Car theft case in the year 1986, police station city Sonepat
  2. Motorcycle theft in the year 1990, Thana Sadar Panipat
  3. Machine theft in the year 1990, police station Sadar Panipat
  4. Theft of Bajaj Chetak scooter in the year 1990 at Kharkhoda Sonipat
  5. Case No. 37 Dated 15.01.1992 under section 302 at Police Station Sadar Bhiwani.

Apart from this, two cases are also registered against the accused in Rajasthan state.
