Leh, Aug 15 2021 The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with full fervour and patriotism across the Leh district. Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson, hoisted the national flag at the Council Secretariat in Leh. Speaking during the occasion, Chairman, LAHDC Leh, extended his greetings to the people of Ladakh on the auspicious day of India’s 75th Independence Day.
“The freedom we enjoy today is because of the sacrifice and hard-fought struggle by the heroes of the nation. This day reminds us of their sacrifice and we must protect the unity and sovereignty of this nation. Ladakh has a similar history. We now enjoy the freedom of choice and aspiration after Ladakh became a union territory. We wouldn’t be enjoying this freedom without the hard work of our ancestors. We must thank them for their efforts. We must not take this freedom for granted as we paid a heavy price to get it. Independence comes with great responsibility; let us honour it and work for the development of the country,” stated Chairman, LAHDC Leh.
Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, Ghulam Mehdi Ashoor, Executive Councillor for Rural Development Department, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel; Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC, Leh, Shrikant Suse; Councillors of LAHDC Leh, Private Secretary to Chairman LAHDC, Leh, Jigmet Raftan; IAO, Jigmet Namgyal; Xen Construction, Nisar Ahmed and the official staffs of the Council Secretariat, LAHDC Leh, were present during the event.
Meanwhile, Advisor, UT Ladakh, Umang Narula, hoisted the tricolour at the UT Secretariat in the presence of the Administrative Secretaries and the staff of the UT Secretariat.
Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse, hoisted the national flag at the DC Office premises on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day celebrations. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Leh; Assistant Commissioner of Revenue (ACR), Leh; Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Leh; Tehsildar, Leh; Accounts Officer and other officers and officials were present during the event.
The staff of the Department of Information & Public Relations, Leh, and Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Leh, led by Deputy Director, DIPR Ladakh, Ghulam Nabi Tak and Deputy Secretary, Culture, Tsewang Paljor, respectively, hoisted the tricolour at the UT Secretariat.
Similarly, Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotism at the sub-divisional level in Leh district by following the Covid-19 SOPs and guidelines issued by DDMA Leh.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Nubra, Lakshay Singhal, hoisted the national flag at Govt. Middle School, Diskit. Tehsildar Sumoor, Deachen Chondol; Block Development Officer (BDO), Panamik, Dorjay Gyaltson; Naib Tehsildar, Khalsar, Tashi Jorgais and Naib Tehsildar, Turtuk, Ghulam Rasool, hoisted the national flag at Sumoor, Panamik, Khalsar and Turtuk villages, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Khaltsi, Suhail Ahmad, hoisted the national flag at the New Stadium, Khaltsi, in the presence of sub-divisional officers and officials, to mark the celebrations of 75th Independence Day. Tehsildar, Saspol, Namgyal Angmo hoisted the tricolour at Likir and Tehsildar Settlement, Saspol, Sonam Phuntsog, hoisted the national flag at Saspol. Similarly, at Naibat Temisgam, Naib Tehsildar, Tashi Stanzin hoisted the tricolour.
The 75th Independence Day was also celebrated at sub-division Nyoma where SDM, Nyoma, RigzinYangdol, hoisted the tricolour.
Independence Day celebrations were held at various educational institutions in the Leh district. Government Degree College (GDC) Nubra celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour. Principal, GDC Nubra, Tsewang Motup, hoisted the national flag in the presence of the staff and students. Govt Middle School, Khaltsi and Temisgan also celebrated Independence Day.
District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh celebrated the 75th Independence Day at DIET Office. Principal, DIET, Leh, Mushtaq Ahmad hoisted the tricolour in attendance of the staff.
