Indo-Israeli Conference inaugurated


About 100 Horticulture Officers from 23 states of the country participate

Chandigarh, November 21- Under the Indo-Israel project, Horticulture Department, Haryana is organizing a three-day conference on Centre of Excellence and Excellence Villages. In this conference, about 80 to 100 officers of 23 states of the country will be made aware of the various techniques of horticulture by Israeli experts. The conference will be held at auditorium of PWD Guest House Panchkula.

Horticulture techniques will be discussed and on the last day of this conference i.e November 23, 2021, the tour of all the participants have been set at COE’s under the Indo-Israel Project.

Israeli expert, Mr. Uri Rubinstein Mashav, Mission Director, Haryana State Horticulture Development, Sh. Hardeep Singh, and Vice Chancellor, Maharana Pratap Horticulture University, Karnal, Sh. Samar Singh, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
While speaking on the occasion Additional Director, Udyan Vibhag Haryana, Dr. Ranbir Singh stated that the conference like this will strengthen relations between India and Israel and will help in exchange of new technologies in the agriculture field between the two countries directly benefitting the farmers. Our agricultural scientists are developing new research and many new techniques in this field day by day, as a result of which the farmers of India will be more prosperous.

Addressing the participants, Professor Samar Singh stated that the area under horticulture in the state has increased more than ever before. Day by day farmers are moving towards horticulture instead of traditional farming. Horticulture University being established in Karnal will prove to be a milestone in this episode. The farmers will directly get the benefit of the new research being done by the university and the technologies being developed.
Sh. Hardeep Singh stated that in order to inspire diversification in horticulture and bring about a boom in the income of farmers, Haryana Government has launched many new programs and packages and schemes like “Mera Pani Meri Virasat”, “Bhavantar Bharpai Yojna” (BBY), Mukhyamantri Bagwani Bima Yojana (MBBY), Crop Residue Management, Har Khet-Swasth Khet etc.

During the first session of the conference, Israeli experts Mr. Uri Rubinstein, Mr. Daniel Haddad, and Mr. Itzak Esquire gave participants information on plant protection, nursery management while Israeli expert, Mr. Erez Kedem gave information regarding greenhouse techniques for vegetables and irrigation in gardens in the second session.
During this session, Israeli experts told the officials that if farmers adopt advanced techniques and strategies for growing vegetables then their yield will boom and farmers can double their income. Apart from this, they instructed the officials in detail about the green house technology used for growing vegetables and said that if farmers adopt this technique and cultivate off-season vegetables, they can easily increase their income.
After the end of the first day’s session, all the officials were taken to the Rock Garden and Sukna Lake, Chandigarh.
