Chandigarh, June 5 2021
Reacting to Captain Amarinder Singh’s decision to not to take any action against corrupt Congress ministers and MLAs and handing over their lists to Rahul Gandhi at Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president and MP Bhagwant Mann said that Captain Amarinder Singh has proved to be the weakest Chief Minister of Punjab who is complaining to the Congress High Command instead of taking legal action against the Congress MLAs and ministers running the mafia rule. Mann said that such a weak Chief Minister was proving to be disastrous for Punjab and the people of Punjab did not need such a weak leader. Therefore, Captain Amarinder Singh should be removed from the post of Chief Minister of Punjab immediately, he said.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Saturday, Bhagwant Mann said that the people of Punjab had elected Captain Amarinder Singh as the Chief Minister with an overwhelming majority and not Rahul Gandhi. He said that during the 2017 assembly elections, Captain Amarinder used to swear everywhere that he would eradicate all forms of mafia rule in Punjab by becoming the Chief Minister. Mann alleged that in the Congress government, Captain did not end the mafia rule but the Congressmen became part of the mafia established by the Akalis. “Today sand, gravel, liquor, transport, cable mafia, as well as vaccine and job mafia have been set up by Captain’s ministers and MLAs and the people of Punjab are being looted and beaten by this mafia rule,” he added.
Mann quipped that Captain Amarinder Singh who used to stand on the stage and strive to end the mafia rule; after becoming the Chief Minister, had been preparing the files of MLAs and ministers who had established the mafia rule for four years. He said that instead of taking action against the patronage of the mafia, the Chief Minister of Punjab was complaining to the Congress High Command, which only a weak person could do, not the Chief Minister of Punjab. Mann asked Captain Amarinder Singh to explain why he did not take action against the accused ministers, MLAs and the Congress leaders.
The AAP leader further said that in fact, Captain Amarinder Singh had distanced himself from the people of Punjab due to his incompetence and reneging on his election promises and now he was compromising by presenting the names of MLAs and ministers to the Congress High Command to save his credentials and seat. “Captain has deceived the people of Punjab by hiding the names of ministers and MLAs associated with the mafia. The truth is that Captain himself is the patron of the mafia,” he added. Mann demanded that Captain Amarinder Singh should make public the list of MLAs and ministers given to the Congress High Command so that the people of Punjab could know about the Congressmen belonging to the mafia rule.
