Appeals people to stay alert, adhere to Covid safety protocols
KATHUA, JUNE 11: Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav today said that the Covid situation in Kathua district has gradually improved with the recovery rate touching 97% mark.
At present there are only 158 positive cases in the district, fewer in hospitals and majority of them in home isolation, he said while briefing the media persons during the weekly presser here at the DC office complex.
On status of vaccination, the DC said that 77% of the people falling in 45 and above age category have been inoculated, besides extensive vaccination drive has been initiated for 18-45 yrs age group targeting Shopkeepers, Taxi Drivers, destitute women, disabled and frontline field functionaries of government departments and media persons.
To scale up vaccination in hilly areas of Billawar and Bani, Village to Village campaign is in full swing, while door to door inoculation drives have been initiated in hard to reach areas of the district so that all eligible categories can be vaccinated in the shortest possible time, he informed.
Referring to the establishment of Rural-Covid Care Centre as an important preparatory step to deal with any future Covid resurgence, the DC said 5-bedded facilities are being equipped with all required medical infrastructure. These are and will provide immediate medical help to the Covid patients at Panchayat level. He appealed to the people to avail benefits of 5 Bedded Covid care centres activated at all 257 Panchayats of the district.
“As the process of unlocking has started, my appeal to the people of Kathua will be to keep adhering to the Covid protocols and follow roaster routine before coming out in market and maintain Covid appropriate behaviours to break the chain,” Rahul Yadav added.
